The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers reveals Britain's most respected and sought-after graduate employers.
It is produced annually by High Fliers Research and the latest edition is based on research with 16,114 final year students who left UK universities in the summer of 2010. Each finalist was asked the open-ended question - 'Which employer do you think offers the best opportunities for graduates?' - and the responses analysed to compile this year¹s league table.
The results show that for a record seventh year running PricewaterhouseCoopers, the accounting and professional services firm, has been voted the UK¹s leading graduate employer, ahead of Deloitte and the Civil Service.
Teach First, the scheme that recruits high-flying graduates to work in some of the UK's toughest school for two years after university, has climbed to 7th place. It is just seven years since Teach First joined
The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers as a new entry in 63rd place and the scheme has risen in the rankings every year since.
The highest climbers in 2010 are led by Asda which has jumped an impressive forty-one places to 41st, Lidl which moves up thirty-five places to 54th and accountancy firm Grant Thornton which climbs thirty-one places to 68th in the
Top 100. MI5 the Security Service has also done very well, going from 93rd place in 2008 to 60th in 2009 and now 33rd in the latest rankings.
There are a total of eleven new entries this year¹s
Top 100, the highest being Saatchi & Saatchi, the advertising agency which joins the rankings in 49th place, the strongest debut for a new employer since 2003. Engineering company Balfour Beatty, energy group Centrica and Lloyd¹s insurance market appear for the first time in 69th place, 80th place and 92nd place respectively.
