Q&A

totally demotivated
Posted by Secret
i have done my business studies degree with accounting degree and currently doing my masters in international business (i have all the exams done in masters just have to do the dissertation, i get a dipolma if i do not decide to do disseratation). But i really hate what am doing is there anything interesting do to with my qualifications? thinking of just giving up so demotivated teachers kinda pushed me into this area. i find the area easy but i get depressed with the idea of sitting at a desk everyday (prone to getting depressed which doesnt help)

Have you had a chance to look at the different type of roles you could go for? Most large organisations will recuit graduates for rotation programes which will allow you to experiance all the relavent areas of a business, see which skill you excel in and which areas are of most interest to you.

Although these may be long winded some times to apply for they are well worth giving it a shot.

I have a degree in Accounting and Finance and graduated in 2009. I also have an office job now as an assistant financial accountant. Yes it can be a bit of a bore but which job isn't? I think the job and it's surroundings is what you make of it in a way...if you embrace it and add in your own features into it can be enjoyable. Also by not finishing your masters, it will; A) not help you get a dream job (not matter what that may be) and B) demonstate to potential employers that you have given up at a time most crucial and may also do the same in a work enviroment hence you are unemployable.

Hope this helps you decide what you want to do/ what you should do...

I agree with Dave - you shouldn't give up halfway through a qualification. Finish it off and put your best efforts into it as it can only help you. Even if you don't enjoy it, it'll be over in the end, and it's best to finish with a good grade than with nothing at all and your time wasted.

Lots of employers will take on graduates from any discipline and I have also noticed that several jobs are interested in numerate graduates (which you obviously are!) So there are more opportunities out there than you think :)
