Redgate Software

Industry: IT & Telecommunications

Red Gate Software produces ingeniously simple tools for over 500,000 Microsoft technology professionals worldwide.  We specialise in SQL Server and .NET tools and we’ve been based in Cambridge since we were a small start-up eleven years ago.  We’re renowned as a great place to work having proudly appeared in the Sunday Times Top 100 small companies list year after year.  In fact, we’re the best small company to work for in Cambridge.

Red Gate offers a relaxed, informal working environment where you’ll have all the resources you’ll need to do the best work of your life.  Red Gate will challenge you and allow you to grow and develop both personally and professionally.  We’ll give you the freedom and flexibility to excel at what you do.  You’ll be working with bright people who are experts at what they do; you’ll learn from them and they’ll learn from you. Whatever part of the company you work in, you’ll be part of a small ream that will encourage free and open discussions and the flow of ideas.  We expect the best from everyone at Red Gate and in return you’ll feel rewarded and valued.  Company social events, team days out and the annual Red Gate Day Out all contribute towards us having fun, together.

Red Gate's philosophy is all about 'simple': products that are simple to understand and use, a website that makes it simple to find information and business processes that make it simple to buy from us, supply to us and deal with us. Our recruitment process is simple too – just upload your CV and cover letter and we’ll take it from there.

We’re always looking for talented people to join us.  Check out our current opportunities, follow @redgate or @RedGatecareers on Twitter or take a look at our Flickr gallery to find out more.

Recruitment process
All we need to kick things off is your CV and a covering letter. You can upload these to our website. At Red Gate we don't use application forms - we'd like you to tell us about yourself in your own way. Do let us know which of your skills and experiences are relevant to the job you are applying for and why you're applying.

You'll get an email from us straight away to let you know your application has been safely received. We'll then review and evaluate your application and email you with an update on your progress. Depending on the role you're applying for, we might then email you an assessment to complete or invite you to a brief telephone interview. The assessment will be relevant to the work you'll be doing and is your first chance to really show us your stuff.

The next stage for everyone is a face to face interview at our Cambridge office. This is usually a two-stage process. Your first interview will generally be with two people, and will involve discussion of your CV, covering letter and any assessments you've already done. You may also be asked to do some work based tests and perhaps a brief psychometric analysis.  This analysis is never used to decide whether a candidate is suitable, but rather to explore your application on a deeper level. If you are applying for a technical role, your first interview will include several technical questions.

The second interview will, again, be with two people, although at least one of them may be new to you. By this point you'll have met people who do the same job as you and the person who will be managing your team or department.

We have a dedicated interview room with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We want to make you feel at ease, so you can show us your full potential and be yourself. We'll allow plenty of time for you to ask us questions and we'll be very happy to give you a tour of our offices. We don't have a dress code here at Red Gate and the best dressed people tend to be here for an interview! If wearing your best suit helps you feel in interview mode then great, but don't worry too much about what to wear as we just want you to feel comfortable.

Laura in the recruitment team will keep in touch with you throughout the process but don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions at any stage. Oh, and look out for the interviewee questionnaire on our reception coffee table when you come in to see us. We love to receive your feedback so we can keep giving candidates a great recruitment experience.
