ICSA

Industry: Accounting, Auditing & Finance, Legal

What is ICSA?
ICSA (The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators) is the international qualifying and membership body for Chartered Secretaries.  Chartered Secretaries are high ranking professionals who are qualified in corporate law, finance, governance, company secretaryship and management.

What qualifications does ICSA offer?
ICSA offers a professional qualifying scheme.   Once qualified you can use the title Grad ICSA after your name and once you have relevant work experience you can apply to become a Member of ICSA and become a Chartered Secretary.   You can study via distance-learning or via one of our tuition providers.  We also offer collaborative courses with a number of universities.  Study can be full-time or part-time.

What sort of careers do ICSA Members go on to have?
Our Members work in a number of different careers and across a variety of sectors including corporate, not-for-profit and charity.  We have Members spanning the globe. Some of our Members work as Company Secretaries for FTSE100 companies earning an average salary of over £180,000.  Other Members have job roles such as Chief Executive, Chairman or Director of Legal Services or they work in private practice offering business and legal services.

Why should I consider doing a professional qualification?
In the current market, competition for jobs is fierce.  Having a degree is no longer a guarantee of employment.  A professional qualification helps you to stand out from the crowd and indicates to potential employers that you are serious about your career.  A professional qualification can also help you to earn nearly 40% more over your working life (source: An Economic Impact Assessment of the CCPMO by London Economics)

Why should I consider doing an ICSA qualification?
Our qualification is internationally recognised and is a passport to a wide range of challenging and rewarding careers.  With an ICSA qualification you can fast-track your route to the boardroom and work across a huge variety of business sectors in a top-ranking board-level role.  It is one of the broadest-based professional qualifications and therefore equips you for a variety of opportunities, rather than pigeon-holing you into just one job role.  An ICSA qualification can open up a world of possibilities for your future career.
